Potential Malware

I recently start seeing Cisco Any Connect Secure Mobility Client Notifications and vpnagentd errors. It causes pop-ups at the start of computer that says keeping these on the mac computer will damage it. I moved them to the trash and the pop-ups seem to desist. I would just like to know

1 Can I clear the trash with these items or is it an integral part of the mac os etc?

2 Are these things know for being malware

3 even after removal, could I still have malware related to these things still on the device. and if so how can I remove them.

Many thanks in advance.

The Cisco AnyConnect VPN is usually only installed to connect into the internal network of a business or organization you are affiliated with, and usually with the assistance of an IT team. Contact the organization that requested the installation of that product. Does this match your situation with this VPN?

If so… I’d guess that you’re running an old version of AnyConnect installed.

These seem to be the AnyConnect uninstall instructions: http://kb.mit.edu/confluence/display/mitcontrib/Cisco+Anyconnect+Manual+uninstall+Mac+OS

The IT organization that requested the install probably either has those same instructions, or has whatever might have replaced those on more recent AnyConnect installs.

In General—

Disable any VPN or Proxy servers you are using

Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/Anti-Virus

Power Cycle your router

Do a safe boot if necessary  https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262
