QR Codes Crash Watch Wallet - Anyone found a resolution?

My Apple Watch wallet crashes when using QR codes/store cards in wallet. If I use one of those, I get a blank screen and can’t use wallet until I reset the entire watch.

I’ve tried all the reported solutions

wipe watch and phone and start as new devices
deleting and reading passes
pair and unpaid

(has been reported on other closed threads). None have a worked for me at. This happens with both my NHS Covid Pass and Prêt (both QR codes).

Been in touch with Apple support but they have no answers and seem disinterested in trying to fix.
