email trigger in shortcuts

My iPad shows a notification on the Lock Screen when I receive a new email. That’s fine. But I want it to play a special sound when the email is from my cousin. The shortcuts manual says I can do this, but I can’t. Step 1 is to add a new shortcut in the shortcut editor and press the automation button in the upper right corner. I don’t see any automation button — anywhere. I’ve looked at every “action” available and there are no “events.” What am I missing? My iPad has version 14 of the OS.

Hi Upyrz,

We understand you'd like to use the Shortcut app to create an automation where you can designate a sound to play when you receive an email from a specific contact. You can learn how to set up an automation here: Enable or disable a personal automation in Shortcuts on iPhone or iPad

However, this may not work as you intend it to. According to the support article above, automations for emails can't be run automatically. This means once you set one up and receive an email, you'll then get a notification from Shortcut asking if you'd like to run the automation. Once you choose to run it, only then will a sound be played.

In addition, if you'd like to leave any feedback about this directly to Apple, you may do so via Product Feedback.

Cheers.
