how do I make new folder in safari that is not nested in Mojave 10.14.6

I don't know what the right term might be. Not nested, not subordinate, but top level, i.e. justified left in the bookmark sidebar. The only instruction I can find says to control click new folder in the sidebar but that can't be right because control clicking in the sidebar also selects the closest folder and the new folder becomes nested within that selected folder. Check this out: I want to make a folder called "Mathematics". I want it to be left justified, or "top level" or whatever you want to call it, but control clicking in the sidebar selected Analysis Tools and I don't want Mathematics to be a sub folder of Analysis Tools, I want it to be left justified at the top level. I hope that's clear. Man, this is infuriating! See picture below:

From the Bookmarks Menu choose Add Bookmark folder, it makes Untitled folder at top level which can be renamed and dragged to where you want it.
