I cannot pair or unpair my watch

my watch is only partially paired. Some of the apps still work, others don't. I cannot pair nor can I unpair. When I go to the Apple Watch app on my phone the only message I can get is "start pairing", but that doesn't work. When I was at our Apple Store last week, the store advisor said the Genius Bar would probably send it in, but you might try Apple Support first.
