2020 Macbook Air Lagging

Today I purchased a brand new Macbook Air, and after setting everything up, I am experiencing significant lagging, primarily on Chrome and/or Safari. The time it takes from when I click something, to it responding is far too long, especially for a brand new MacBook. I previously had a 2017 MacBook Air and was extremely responsive and didn't lag at all. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this with the newer models and how they resolved it?

Hi tessasour,

Thanks from coming to Apple Support Communities for help with your MacBook Air. As we understand, your browsers are lagging and slow.

Have you tested on another Wi-Fi network? If not, definitely try that to help isolate the issue.

How did you set it up? Did you use Migration Assistant?

What happens if you start up in safe mode? Here's how: How to use safe mode on your Mac.

Then follow "If the issue continues in safe mode" or "If the issue doesn't continue in safe mode".

Let us know what happens.

Have a fantastic day!
