Airpods
When I connect my AirPods to my phone it connects but when I play anything it comes out through my speakers on my phone. And the little AirPods icon on the top right that’s supposed to shows up doesn’t .

It probably means that they aren't really connected:
You also might try this:
1) Open the Control Center
2) Long press on the music controls
3) Select the output option (little up-arrow with circles)
4) Select AirPods (if they aren't listed, they aren't connected)
