Spam texts on Apple Watch

Seems to be a common theme of folks having spam messages show up on Apple Watch and not iPhone. I understand that they are separate numbers but reporting a message chain (I'm one of 20 people in an unknown message chain) on the iPhone once solved the issue right away. On the watch however, I've reported each message as I get them for three days straight and the messages are still coming through. Tech support advices to block each number individually on the watch. Being that there are 19 other numbers on this random message chain, I don't see how blocking each one individually is the only option. Has there been a fix to this? All of the threads I've seen don't seem to have resolutions.
