IfeverIshouldleaveyou,

Got it! Thank you for clearing that misunderstanding. The option to hide or disable the window of your own personal image in FaceTime is unavailable. We suggest providing your feedback about this to Apple by visiting this link here: Product Feedback - Apple

Cheers!

Hello IfeverIshouldleaveyou,

Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. If we're understanding correctly, you'd like to know if it's possible to turn off the camera in FaceTime. We'll be happy to help.

You can disable the camera on your device in a FaceTime call. Here's an article with additional details and a visual of the camera icon for iOS 15 or iPadOS 15: Make and receive FaceTime calls on iPhone and Make and receive FaceTime calls on iPad

For a Mac, you can turn off the camera by selecting "Mute Video" for the onscreen control: Use FaceTime on Mac

If we misunderstood, please provide us additional details to gain a better understanding.

Kind regards.

IfeverIshouldleaveyou,

Thanks for getting back to us and providing those details. It sounds like you're referring to face detection that focuses on one's self image. We were able to run a test here on our end and the icon for face detection in FaceTime did not appear.

With that being said, have you tried restarting your iPhone to see if that helps: Restart your iPhone This can help resolve unexpected behavior.

In addition, let's make sure that your iOS device is updated to the latest version of iOS 15.0.2 or iPadOS 15.0.2: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch Updating the software provides enhanced improvements within the software.

Best regards.

I'm going to describe as plain as I can what my problem with FaceTime is............

When a connection is made over FaceTime, you can see the person you're calling and they can see you. This is all well and good and the whole point of the exercise. Part of what you get to see when you're looking at the person you're calling is your own self, postage stamp sized, down in the right corner of the screen. I want that to disappear. I don't want to look at myself when I'm on a FaceTime call. I do want the party I'm calling to see me and I want to see them. Is there a setting that would disable that little area of the screen that shows one's own face during the course of a call ?
