What does “Notifications Silenced” mean on iPhone

Hello,

I just updated my OS to the latest version yesterday.

My friend’s OS is also updated. For some reason, We always get this message “has notifications silenced” on our message thread even:

  • do not disturb is off
  • focus is off

anyone else experiencing this? Attached is the screenshot.

So, like many of you I tried everything and nothing worked. Eventually, I got in contact with Apple support and what ended up fixing it for me was to turn off the “Share Focus Status” in the contact settings. I even had my wife turn it back on and it doesn’t show that message anymore. See images below Hope this helps!

  1. From phone you are seeing this message coming from, open the contact settings for contact seeing the message.

2. Turn the setting off (and back on if you want). This should instantaneously remove the message.

I am having the same issue, but I did not do the new update… so my boyfriend is getting the “___has silenced notifications” message pop up Every-time he sends a text to me. But I don’t even have the “focus” feature yet. (I am out of storage on this device new one comes in soon) but terribly annoying for him and I cannot fix it.

i have the same issue but with a slight twist , my son asked me why i have notifications silenced, i did what everyone else has done to no avail.

but i sometimes send myself texts , screenshots , info sites etc , when the text arrives it is in duplicate with one saying my notifications are silenced and one without that message

why is that?

i have turned off focus rebooted my phone i have no clue as to why what do you guys think, am i just an idiot luddite ?

this worked for me, thank you , i still have another issue but it's most likely that i'm an idiot,

i mentioned in another reply that i get duplicate messages when I text myself something i want to easily find again instead of searching thru mail or news etc ,

I know, I know, i can hear everyone agreeing that I am an idiot

it only happens when i send something to myself and only just recently it's a bit annoying but i can live with it just curious as to why it happens ,and what i did to cause this to happen , but i now don't get the silence notification anymore .

thank you Dr

iPhone Pro 13, iOS 15.2.1, cannot turn off "notifications silenced”. I’ve tried every Focus, sleep, notification setting I’ve read here and that I can find. I was running iOS 15.0.1 on my iPhone pro 11, no problem at all. This started as soon as I set up my new iPhone Pro 13. This is making it impossible to receive texts. I’ve tried disabling “share focus status” on each contact, this doesn’t work. I’ve signed out of iCloud on ALL my iOS and MacOS devices with no luck upon signing back in. I’ve done a network and all setting reset, no luck. Has to be a bug, please fix ASAP. I’m going to have to use an Android phone until this is resolved.

Thanks for figuring that out... a big thumbs up to you Doc!

I'm still not sure if they are under the influence of excessive adult beverages in the middle of the night can force the message through if I'm sleeping and DO NOT WANT TO BE DISTURBED because I've already got that set for certain contacts through my Favorites.

I'll text that next with someone NOT on my favorites list.

Cheers!

Mine DEFINITELY works as expected. There are times when I want focus enabled on computer (zoom calls) but disabled on phone (text get text notifications on phone during zoom calls on computer). I disable this switch on computer and change my focus settings. Then I can switch this button off and back on on my phone to get all devices synced again after zoom.

follow?
