Logitech camera freezes on Big Sur 11.5+ on Mac Mini and MacBook Air

My Logitech c920 was working flawlessly on my Mac Mini 2018 for over a year. But now after upgrading to Big Sur 11.5, the picture freezes after about 15 minutes and won't start again. Here's what I've verified:

  1. The problem exists on my Mac Mini 2018 and MacBook Air 2018, both running Big Sur
  2. I have tried MacOs 11.5, 11.6 and the Monterey Beta 6
  3. The software makes no difference. The camera freezes using Zoom, FaceTime, even Logitech's own software
  4. The camera works fine on MacOs 11.4 and earlier and on Windows

This problem was mentioned in another support request (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/252865871) without a reply.

Regards

Mac mini, macOS 11.6
