My emails are missing after ios15 update.
iPad, iPadOS 14
I updated my Mom’s IPad to 15.1 and her email disappeared. I did the steps outlined above in my previous email and nothing worked. I just got off the phone with Apple Support and they fixed it so I wanted to share what I did. He had me delete the actual mail app and reinstall it - not the email account - the email app. I reinstalled it and sent an email to myself and all of a sudden the mail started loading. All her email is there. So here is a helpful hint of something you all can try - maybe it will work for you!
I checked and it isn’t on my defaulted email. I spoke to Apple’s support and they suggested that Privacy Protection could not have affected my Mail app but I believe you are right.
since the upgrade, my emails are behaving strangely. All mails are deleted with 3 days of receipt. And I don’t know where to.
Not sure whether to uninstall Mail App as it says that it will delete everything.
i tried turning privacy mail activity off but nothing changed.
Because my mail setup is using imap, I am afraid all the mails missing would have been deleted on my mail server as well.
And no, I did notice any new folders on my accounts.
Really disappointing.
Did your missing email get resolved? The same thing happened on my iPad Pro when I did the IOS 15.0 update, and even though I’ve done two more updates, I still have no email. I have an outlook account. When I launch the email icon I see the outline of the Mail layout, but everything is blank, but there are a bunch of little mail icons across the bottom…most say Mail, but one says Mail Inbox. If I “select” one of those icons, the whole mail app crashes. I’ve had this iPad since about 2018, and this is the first time this has happened after an update. I can still access my hotmail account on my Mac, and 6S iPhone (iPhone is IOS updated), but not the iPad. I’ve deleted, shut down, restarted and added the account 2 times, and still no email on the iPad. Such a pain!
No… all mails that disappeared still missing. Unfortunately for me, I set my mail accounts under imap which means that whatever is deleted on any one of my devices.. gets deleted on my mail server.
Interestingly, I tried to stop the delete on my other device (iPad) by switching my connection to airplane mode and then tried moving my deleted mail back into my inbox.
Now my iPhone reflects a set of emails while my iPad reflects another set (an extended set). However, deleted mails that were restored will not sync back to my mail server. Strange but true.
Yesterday, iOS 15.0.2 was released but I now encounter yet another problem. New mails coming in are not reflected as unread mail. Sigh…
Same problem for me.
Tried update emails, shut down/restart but afraid to do reset. Do not want to lose old mail.
Need help!!!
DO NOT UPGRADE TO IOS 15 UNTIL APPLE RESOLVES THIS PROBLEM
This exact same thing happened to me. I have certain emails that are flagged and now I’m missing some of those emails within a time period. It’s absolutely frustrating, and if anyone has any offers of help/support/or guidance is highly appreciated. I tried disabling the privacy protection to the email. Still nothing. I’ve deleted the accounts…nothing. I’ve reset the phone and still nothing. As bad as this sounds, I’m happy I’m not the only one experiencing this. At least I’m not going crazy thinking I was the one person that got the bad end of this. If anyone has a fix or finds something or knows of a new update pleAse let me know! Try not to stress everyone, we’ll get this fixed, I guess it’s just a matter of time…
That didn’t work. It’s mainly the attachments that are missing. Any emails with attachments for a couple years is missing. I don’t know what happened to them or if there’s a way to try and retrieve them. I’ve gone in the search field and clicked on all attachments in current and all mailboxes. I’ve tried reloading. I’ve tried deleting the accounts and going back in. I just don’t know.
I didn’t lose all of mine, but some…like during a time period. Nonetheless, emails are missing and it’s unacceptable. The most frustrating part is that if apple wont help, then you know there’s no update coming to fix this mess.
Netty, my problem is some of my emails srdd we missing, not all. The most frustrating thing is that if apple can’t help us then our hope for an update to fix the e-mail issue is still quite a bit away..it’s absolutely frustrating… if you find any fix for this please let me know! :(
What do you mean web browser and not a Mac client?
”I’ve found (in my case) email is getting moved to the default account from your other accounts (and deleted from the original account). If that’s the case you can filter emails using labels and back them up, download them, and delete them from default account and move them back to the original account.” This confused me. Sorry, can you break it down a bit more for me please?
Did you solve the “missing emails” this way?
Have you found any solutions?? I still can’t locate some of my emails that have attachments to them. Some were pictures that I sent to myself from me to me of weddings and such. I’m so frustrated with this entire thing.
My concern is the if apple doesn’t see it as a bug and we’re now with 15.0.2, I have to wait until the next update to get my stuff back? :/
I know what you mean because this happened after the update for me. At least so I believe…
have any other possible fixes?
Yes you are right. The Apple Support that is working with me has told me that it isn’t flagged as a bug and that I was the only one he has heard from regarding this problem. I pointed him to this particular forum thread.
I can only hope that it is escalated upwards. I am almost certain many are still unaware of their loss — perhaps until they go search for historical emails.
I only became aware when I noticed the usual number of flagged emails weren’t reflected.
Yes! I’m pretty bummed out about this whole thing! If you find anything or happen to talk to google about this and it turns into a server thing with them, please point me in the right direction! It’s be greatly appreciated!
same here I have contact Apple on several occasions regarding this issue my emails were together with gmail which is yahoo and both at the same time lost the contents in all my folders and deleted all older emails. My end box started showing I had 5 thousand emails when I only had 20 prior in my gmail account and 50,000 plus in the trash dated as far back to 2002. I also was told that it’s not Apple but gmail and yahoo servers. Interesting when it happened at the exact time not possible. So since I am the only one so I was told from the techs they don’t see it as a Apple issue. But clearly it is when it happened right after the 15 update
