When will Apple start selling refurbished iPhone 12s on their site?

How long after the latest model comes out does it usually take for Apple to start selling refurbished phones of the previous model?

I'm aware that refurbished units go on sale when Apple has them on hand. But it doesn't appear to work the same way with the most-recent previous model (unless you're saying that Apple doesn't sell the previous model AT ALL until they've accumulated a certain amount of them). On the site it lists all the models being sold, with the out-of-stock models greyed out. That said, the iPhone 12 series isn't listed whatsoever.

I understand that none of us work for Apple. That said, IF Apple does begin selling refurbished units of the previous model around the same time every year, then surely there are regular people out there who have kept up on this info in years past. Again, I'm not expecting to come up with insider info on an exact date. I'm simply seeking out people who have waited on refurb releases in previous years.

Just a hunch. Apple is still selling the iPhone 11 models. They were discontinued in Oct 2020. As you can see from the image you provided, they are now available in the Apple Refurbished store ... so that's roughly a year later. Will the 12's start appearing in the store next month ... maybe. As the others have mentioned there are a number of factors in play here. For example, will there be a lot of folks trading in their iPhone 12 for the 13? Could be. The more that do, the greater the chance that they will start showing up on the refurbished list.

AFAIK, Apple has never released any information on what time-based formula they use for when a refurbished model show up. That's why, if a particular model is important to you, just keep checking periodically to see if they show up. I believe, that someone has already figured out a way to monitor the store to find out for you, but off-hand I don't know that for sure.
