My iPad is charging my portable charger, not vice versa.

I've got an iPad Air 4th gen, and for travel reasons I went out and got a Belkin usb portable charger. However, as the iPad is supposed to accept and give out charge, it is charging the portable charger. I'm not really sure what I'm supposed do to get my iPad charging via the portable, not the other way around.

iPad Air, iPadOS 15

The key to resolving this is really very simple; the sequence that you connect the iPad and PowerBank via USB-C determines the direction in which charging current will flow…

Instead of connecting the cable first to the iPad and then to the PowerBank - connect first to the PowerBank and then to the iPad. Reversing the USB-C connection sequence reverses the direction.

This is just one of the features of the USB PD (Power Delivery) protocol.
