Serial number not available

Unable to obtain IMAC serial number to get help. IMAC recovery does not list installation disks to install OS system. Used command R when powering up, Disk Utility lists Internal Drive and disk 2 for Mac OS X base system. Install OS X mountain lion does not show any disks to select for installation.

Find the serial number printed on the underside of your Mac, near the regulatory markings. It's also on the original packaging, next to a barcode label. You can then enter that serial number on the Check Coverage page to find your model


That or is you can log into https://appleid.apple.com/ the device should be listed with all its details including the Serial Number.
