Ethernet Adapters

Hi

I have recently updated my IPhone 11 Pro Max to IOS 15 and my lightning to Ethernet adapter has stopped working. It will no longer get an IP and even when I sent the IP manually it still doesn’t work.

any suggestions on this will be greatly appreciated.

Hi AlexC805,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're having some issues with the ethernet adapter after updating iOS. Have you had the chance to restart your device since noticing this behavior? Are you using an Apple Branded ethernet adapter?

Restart your iPhone

Kind regards.

Hey thanks for the reply back.

Yes after upgrading to IOS I did a network reset and I even did a full complete wipe of the phone without backup and to no luck no IP was being assigned to the adapter.

I downgraded back to IOS 14.8 and the adapter works just fine.

so I’m really confused if it’s something that’s a bug or if it intended to block Ethernet adapters now.

Hey!

I was able to downgrade when Apple was still was accepting the downgrade to IOS 14.8. I believe they're only allowing to 15.0.1 which still doesn't fix the issue with the Ethernet Adapter. I don't know of any other way to upgrade cause apple servers block the downgrade to happen.

That's a bummer what phone support said, I been looking at the forums / update notes for any of the active betas to see if there any mention of the issue or fixed but I haven't found anything unfortunately.

I guess we just got to wait till more people complain or till apple fixes in the near feature but right now I have all updates disabled.

Thank you,

I have this same issue. I was using an ethernet adapter to plug into my car's OBD II port. One phone running iOS 15 couldn't connect, the other phone running iOS 14.8 could. Now that the second phone has been upgraded to the public version of iOS 15, it also cannot connect.

The issue is that "Renew Lease" is no longer available in the ethernet settings, rendering the adapter useless.

Hi I am having the same issue with my ipad! I've read a couple of forums with people having a similar experience since IOS15 upgrade!

IOS 15.0.2 still does NOT fix this. Please we need an update on this issue, as my ipad cant use wifi anymore so my ethernet adaptor is the only option for me.

It's too late to downgrade to ios 14.8 but hopefully apple will fix this issue. I hope they did not do it intentionally to block us from using other Ethernet adaptors...

It seem a Apple engineers put this whole thing down to the problem of 3rd party manufacturers and their adapters not being up to date enough.

I have no way of updating any firmware on mine, so have had no option but to fork out for the Belkin one that Apple sells and which they assure me is compatible. At least Belkin have an app for updating firmware.

I should receive it today so will test it this evening and report back. If this one doesn’t work, surely Apple will have no option but to take the matter a little more seriously.

Hello everyone, I also have the problem since ios 15 with two Iphones and one Ipad. All adapters that are not from Apple work like yours no longer. Only two older adapters that I plugged in one after the other: Ethernet to USB and USB to Lightning are original Apple and have been working again since ios 15.01. I use some of the no-name adapters, the BELKIN is not an alternative for me because it is too expensive. I hope there are other solutions .....
