imessage

I have an iphone 7 running on ios 14.8 that is up to date. I've noticed that the first text message I receive each day (phone had been turned off during the night) displays only the sender's phone number, and the text alert does not sound. Once I open imessages for the first time that day, that message will display correctly and the incoming message alert will sound. Subsequent incoming text messages will display and alert normally until I power off the phone. This issue has caused me to miss a number of important text messages, would greatly appreciate any help in correcting this issue.

Hello campbell2j,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We've reviewed your question and it looks like you have an issue where the sender of a message is not displayed right away. It's understandable that you'd want this resolved, so allow us to assist with that. We advise that you start out by updating to iOS 15, which could help resolve this behavior: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

Once it is updated, please make sure to also restart the iPhone and update the apps on it, as well:
