Moving pinned tabs in safari 15.0 not working as it did with previous Safari version

There have recently been many reports of new problems with the latest release of v.15 Safari. It seems that the recent Safari update has varied issues. Word has it that Apple knows about the problems and is working on a fix. I assume that it will be released fairly soon. In the meantime, if necessary, you can use another browser such as Firefox or Chrome and they should work for you. Also, there are reports that reinstalling Safari and restarting the computer has resolved issues.

We understand you are having an issue with moving your pinned Safari tabs and we're happy to help. Does the issue occur after restarting the Mac using the steps here: Log out, sleep, wake, restart, or shut down your Mac ?

Does the same issue occur in safe mode? If you are not familiar with the safe mode steps, you can follow the steps here: How to use safe mode on your Mac to get it done. Once in safe mode, you'd want to use the Mac as you normally would to see if the issue occurs again. You can tell when the Mac is in safe mode because on the desktop it will show the words Safe Boot in the top right-hand corner of the screen. 

Lastly, does the issue occur in a different user account? If you already have another user account set up, then you can use that one or create a new one to test in using the steps here: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac

I figured this out. You can't pin a tab in a "Tab Group" so just open Safari like you normally do and don't go to a TAB GROUP. Instead just open the sites you want in regular tabs then click on the tab and go to Safari > Window and the Pin Tab option is there.

This workaround worked for me. Thank you so much. Was driving me crazy.

I think I stumbled onto a workaround until Apple can get it fixed. Unpin one of the tabs and then it will let you move the others. So unpin the tab you want at the far right, move the others, and then re-pin that tab.
