iPhone 13 pro battery hot
Just got a new iPhone 13 pro and updated it to iOS 15. But I noticed that the phone/battery is constantly hot. Anybody else have the same problem or just me?

An update on my 13pro being warm. Noticed that the safari was taking 30% battery cpu usage. And then digging further found one particular webpage might be culprit. After closing that webpage the home went back to normal temperature. That’s a quite a relief on the new phone.
You just got your phone, it's very hard at work rebuilding databases and otherwise indexing and restoring content.
If it's still doing the same in 48 hours, report back.
Please check the battery usage percentage. The app with the highest percentage is mostly the culprit.
And Nextdoor just put out an update today. Update the app. If an app, which is 3rd party causes battery issues, it's the 3rd party apps issue to resolve. Apple doesn't own the app, nor the code in the app. iOS 15 was just released. 3rd parties need to update their apps to work optimally with the new iOS.
As has been discussed, whatEVER application you’re using needs to be updated to work with iOS 15. I had the same issue with a common application: Nextdoor… the exact same issue. 2 days later the update was released. Problem solved…
It’s always an app that needs to be updated, not a flaw in the phone.
IF you read back in this thread, there IS much agreement:
1) make sure you’re updated to the latest version of iOS….they seem to come more frequently these days
2) Apps may (likely) need to be updated by the entities who offers them. Check the store daily
3) Don’t necessarily use the MOST powerful charger available…. there’s nothing wrong with taking your time charging using lower wattage.
Not many people have 13 yet! Leave it 3 days and see if it settles down, particularly if you have iCloud photos or a lot of images on the phone.
Same with my phone as well. Closing all the pages and then closing safari helped in my case. Not convenient for sure that have to browse to open each page every time we open safari. Need to experiment if its any page or particular page
re: to all;
turning off background refresh alleviated hot temperatures temporarily. however, i noticed when on wi-fi my phone did not display any abnormalities. given the latter i decided to turn off 5G totally within the settings and have not experienced any previous symptoms of overheating by basic phone usage. through this series of deduction, in my opinion, enabling 5G usage is the cause of overheating; esp. if you are using 5GUC. Revert to LTE and the overheating is non to existent
Mine doesn’t heat up for anything anymore. Update to the latest iOS 15.0.2

any idea to check which app is doing back ground activity enough to make the phone warm ?
Look at your Battery statistics to see which apps have been using the most battery power.
Please check the battery Battery usage by app to find out which app might be very busy. This Will help identify the the app that might be doing lot of activity
"...the application Nextdoor seems to not only really heat up the phone, it depletes battery life really bad. Just from a social networking site?..,"
If the app was not modified to cope with iOS15 changes by the developer and not beta tested, then any app can go berzerk with power usage. Check for updates, inform the developer, and avoid it until the dev fixes it.
Bad app

Funny you said the app, Nextdoor. I was just on writing a message to one of my HOA representatives and my phone was extremely hot. I wound up closing down the apps and shutting my phone down till it cooled off. Apple reported a similar issue with Spotify. It was depleting people's battery and getting extremely hot. I believe they pushed out a bug fox for that with the latest update.
So I noticed my Iphone 13 Pro getting super hot while using it today and read this and realized I had been reading a big thread on NextDoor and it got my phone ridiculously hot towards the top left hand corner. Like burning hot. It just so happened we were using the same app & I do have the most up to date version. I have noticed this week that it has been getting rather warm on certain apps like this but can't recall exactly which ones I was using. Seems really odd for simple apps that don't use much data are making my new phone this warm to touch, especially since I have been on them with Wi-Fi..
