I’m having a problem updating my iPhone 6. It’s currently updated (@ 12.5.5), but there are no apps of 14..3 that my iPhone will not allow me to. Is there a way to update my phone (again, my iPhone says that it’s updated)? I really cannot afford to purchase a newer version.

No, you will need an iPhone 6s or later, the 6 series does not have sufficient RAM to run iOS 13 or later and you cannot add it.
