iPad mini 2021 no grips

There are no grips on the backs of any iPad

What, exactly were you looking at or referring to.

Nothing in the tech specs about “grips”

The tech specs section at the top shows the backs of the iPad Mini and new colors.

The back panel/chassis does NOT show any “grips”

You will need to purchase a case/cover for that new iPad Mini.

Those are channels to allow cellular signals to pass through the chassis. They are only on the cellular models and do not provide any grip. They feel smooth and flush when touched. The wifi model does not have them.

I see this in the images, as well, I am not sure those are grips.

Maybe just part of the design of the aluminium case back to reinforce and stiffen the case and reinforce the corners.

These are NOT grips.

If you look closely at the back of your iPad, you may see this exact look.
