Can you record shows like a set top box on your Apple TV?
My Fetch Box just died and looking for a new tv box but I need to know if you can record TV shows on the Apple TV 4K? And can you watch fetch shows on it?

Technically, no … but …
The AppleTV is a “streaming only” device.
Sometimes it “feels” like it’s storing content depending on the particular app running (e.g. my own CATV provider’s app interface looks and feels EXACTLY like their previous hardware DVRs) …
… but in reality any content viewed is ALWAYS streaming from an external source.
