iPhone 4 32GB compatibility with Volvo USB

Hello.
I have a problem to use the USB connection with my Volvo C30 -2011. It worked with my iPhone 3GS 32GB. But when i connect the new one it tells me "Unreadable unit". Anyone else with the same problem? How to solve it?

iPhone 4 32GB, iOS 4

I think you will resolve it by doing this:

Turn off the iPhone completely.
Turn off the car completely.
Plug in the iPhone in the car.
Turn the car on (ignition mode)

The iPhone will now boot, give you one or two messages that the unit might not be completely compatible, and then (hopefully) work.

Let me know if it helped!

It really helped šŸ™‚
I had to do it twice (Turn of car and phone) but the second time I got a message on my iphone that this device was not compatible and could reduce the quality of the sound. I pressed OK and everything seems to work fine. I can change play lists with ā€œphone enterā€ and change tracks with the ā€œradio seekā€ button, and the sound is greate. Thanks a lot
By the way my car is a brand new V70

Thanks for all the feedback on this issue. I have a 2009 S40 & have been considering upgrading my iPhone 3G to the iPhone 4. But when I contacted Volvo they have yet to test the iPhone 4 with their handsfree & USB system, so I was hesitant to upgrade. My iPhone 3G is running iOS4 & works fine with all systems in my car (I had to do the suggested car off/phone off steps to get it to sync after updating), but I was worried that the newer iPhone wouldn't be compatible. I have a long commute & do 90% of my phone chatting while in the car & I wouldn't want a phone that doesn't work with the handsfree!

Confirmed with an iPhone 3GS with OS4. This was working in my 2010 Volvo XC60 before OS4. One variation on the reported issue is that it would play for 1 minute before the USB Unreadable error message is displayed. Unplugging and plugging back in would only cause the same issue again. Tried the fix just now and it worked perfectly (turn off iPhone completely, plug in to car, stereo on and in USB mode). The iPhone powered up from off and rebooted. Pressed OK when prompted about the device compatibility. Note you may have to skip the first track for the fix to take effect. Apple (I know you are reading this Steve) please fix in the next release - Very frustrating!
