iPhone 13 pro square lens flare
Is my camera defective? It is brand new and only happened in angled bright sundown. Look like i can see a reflection of the insights of the camera…. Very sad
you can see the two square boxes in the tv very clearly

If you look carefully, the two boxes are based upon the bright light entering through your windows.
Notice the "notches" at the top of each "box" - those are your window handles and the cutout on one is where the TV blocks the light from that window.
A lens will invert bright light areas when there is flare.
This is completely normal for premium smartphone cameras.

Hello nicosa123,
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. We understand that you have concerns regarding your camera. Looking at the photo you included, it simply appears there is a reflection being picked up in the shiny surface of the TV screen. The article below provides tips to help you get the best shot on your iPhone camera.
Take amazing photos and videos
Best wishes.
That is NOT lens flare, but is certainly a reflection in the TV screen. By the way, the reason your photo posted sideways is you took the photo vertically. For a photo like this turn your phone in landscape and take the photo and when you posts it will post normally.
I am sorry to tell you it has nothing to do with the tv it moves around with the camera, I just placed it in the tv so you could see it better.
I have video where you can clearly see it has nothing to do with the tv, thank you for understanding this correctly
It’s the reflection from the box surrounding the lenses. If you notice the box is reflective, not like the matted phone itself. If you look outside your lens and move the phone around you will find the reflection. It took me awhile to figure out what was causing the “ghosting” effect. At first I thought the camera was stuck between lenses, it wasn’t until it saw the reflected light on my wall, then I realized what was happening. If you put the camera physically on the bottom right of the phone you will lose the effect. It does not fix the problem it just moves the reflection out of range of the lens, same with vertical photos. Once again not a fix, just a work around.
Then I'd recommend scheduling an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar and show this to Apple.

Hey
yes I know that, I just wanted to know if anyone did experience this, I have not since this light setting been able to recreate it
I haven't seen any other posts about this since iPhone 13 was launched on Friday. If you cannot recreate this again, I'd let it go. You have a full one year warranty on your phone.
I have the same issue in my iPhone 11, my boyfriend has the same in his iPhone XR (but less visible). People have the same in their iPhones 12. It’s unfortunately normal.
Known issue…have it too on my Brand new 13 Pro Max. See video detailing the issue..
Nice explanation and markup. 👍
In the digital age, many just don’t appreciate the complexities and compromises of optical design.
I should have noticed that. Great catch my friend!
Thanks!
