iPod nano in my car

Hey guys-

I'm considering buying an iPod nano if I can get a few things answered before I do so.

I have a Kenwood car radio without a AUX input. I have found an adapter for my radio for $20 though that will give me an AUX input of "RCA stereo female inputs"

I'm wondering if I buy a nano if I can hook it up to that RCA stereo input? If so, I'll likely buy one, but it's not worth it to me if I can't play it through my car speakers.

Is this AUX input adapter all I need? Or is there more to it? Can the Nano hook up to an RCA stereo input?

Thanks in advance. I've been trying to figure this stuff out all day.

** YES, I used straight from my headphone jack to AUX RCA stereo plugs, no problem. **

details...

I used a regular headphone jack to sterea RCA (you know to make sure the headphone jack portion of the cable has 2 rings around the tip for stereo) and I hooked it to the AUX in on my home stereo and it worked fine. However, it did not work so well going from the line out on the doc and the line out on the car charger/dock combo. Seems my audio out from other devices taking from the nano data port gives distorted static and such. But coming straight out from the nano headphone jack to split stereo RCA male plugs, plugging into an AUX, you should be golden... and very pleased.

I'm jealous, wish I had AUX input in my car stereo, I use a cassette-headphone jack adapter. I love my black nano, but please get yourself an Agent 18 case and do NOT even touch the thing until its sealed away. I'm sorry I didn't, it's scratched beyond recognition in just a little over amonth.

I have a 2-year-old Alpine CDA-9811, and it has the ability to add an RCA connector, so I did that, and bought a cable that had a headphone plug on one end, and a left/right RCA on the other, and it sounds SWEET!

Just go to your local Radio Shack or any electrinics store and look for a cable with a headphone plug on one end and a left/right (white/red) RCA connectors on the other, and you should be good-to-go.

For best audio results, use the dock connector from the bottom of the iPod via the links below: User uploaded file

There are cables that have the iPod specific connector that terminate in RCA jacks. I have one made by NYCO: it's a "Stereo link for iPod": http://www.nyko.com/nyko/products/?i=44#

Or you can use this little gismo to create a line-out feature as well as a power-in feature for operating/charging without depleting the battery: : https://www.sendstation.com/us/products/pd_lousb.html. Others types are also available via this site.
