iOS 15 cannot get out of private mode

To get out of private browsing and switch to the regular browsing mode, try the following.

1. Tap the “Tab Overview” button (in the tab bar at the bottom right) while you’re in Private Browsing Mode.
2. Tap on “Private”, shown at the center of the tab bar. Or just long-press on Private and tap ‘Tabs’ from the popup.
3. Select the #Tabs option or a certain Tab Group for the list.

I have an iPad Air2 and since updating to OS15.1 I cannot get out of Private browsing mode. I tried the options listed but they don’t work on my device. What now?
