Turn off Safari Search results

New update by Apple means that search sites now appear on your page - I have been told that I have to delete each one manually this is absolute madness by Apple - there should be a control one can turn on or off

Hi jwpinnacle,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities.

It sounds like you want to turn off search results in Safari and we’re happy to help!

To "Prevent search engine suggestions" follow these steps:

  1. "In the Safari app  on your Mac, choose Safari > Preferences, then click Search.
  2. Deselect “Include search engine suggestions.”

Safari stops sending the search engine your partial search terms as you type them, and the search engine doesn’t send Safari search suggestions to show in the results list below the search and address field."

For additional information check out the Apple Support articles below.

Customize searching in Safari on Mac

Change Search preferences in Safari on Mac

We hope this helps.

Take care.

Thank for your reply - the tab issue relates to ipad - the new update gives you no choice to turn off tabs being displayed.

While texting this reply I look up to search area and underneath it highlights the webpages I have recently visited - so what I need to do is hit the cross and they go.

example

search bar - discussions.apple.com

tabs displayed

my Subscriptions - Apple Community

turn off safari Search results etc etc

yesterday had my banks links - do one needs to be careful as you hit the tab and you or anyone using your ipad can go to that page - privacy concern and appreciate help
