the latest security update will not finish downloading 2021

I have tried and tried to let the latest security update finish downloading but it always fails. I don't know why. Do I try it in safe mode?

My disk is only half full so I don't understand the problem. My macbook is a later 2015 so I can one more update from apple. I don't know if I should just wait for the next system upgrade? I have an antivirus already.

I am concerned bc hackers found a vulnerability in iOS and possibly used this to install Pegasus. I only found out about this bc my antivirus sent me a message, not bc Apple sent it. Now the fix won't install.

I can navigate this system but I'm not an expert at it so is there something simple I can do at home or must I take this to a physical store and see if the experts can get it for me?

Point # 2 - Are there any AntiVirus, Disk Cleaner, Optimizers, Un-installers, etc installed which should be removed as per Developers Instructions. They are useless, unneeded, cause havoc and interfere with the normal operation of the OS and may even Corrupt the OS requiring a Reinstallation. The Built-in Security of Big Sur is all that is required.

And the AntiVirus Software will interfere with the download process and may even Stop it altogether.
