Why do push alerts go to my old iPhone

I just upgraded to the new iPhone 13 yesterday. Everything transferred to my new phone from my old iPhone just fine. Today, when I tried to access my work email, I waited for the push alert to come to my phone. I heard a buzz on my old iPhone, and it turned out that the push alert went there instead of to the new phone. What caused this? Or more importantly, how can I get the push alert to go to the new iPhone?

Hello Alfred Mueller Ii,

We understand that alerts are being received on your old iPhone. Do you receive notifications as expected on the new iPhone when the old iPhone is powered off? Is the issue occurring only with the Mail app and a specific email account or does it occur with other apps and accounts?

We'd like to have you start by checking a few settings on your new iPhone starting with the "Check Mail Fetch and Notification settings" section here:

If you can't receive email on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Let's also follow the steps under the "If you can't see notifications for a specific" app section in the following resource:

Use notifications on your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch

The problem is receiving push notifications from an app called Duo Mobile, not the Mail app. When I open Notifications in the Settings area, everything is set properly for me to receive the notifications on my new iPhone. The problem is that, if I elect to receive an automated call from my employer to unlock my organization's webpage, the call comes to my new iPhone. But if I elect to receive a push alert on my new iPhone, the push goes to my old iPhone.
