Why does my Apple TV keep asking me for my Apple ID password.

Possibly you are using an app that was downloaded using a different account than the currently active account. When an app update is available, then it wants to connect to the App Store, but then finds an Apple ID account conflict.
To resolve that, switch to the same account as was used to get the app initially. Or delete and reinstall the app using the new/regular Apple ID account.
