502 bad gateway

I keep getting this message : and the only way to clear it is to reboot

502 Bad Gateway

TlsProtocolException("Cannot establish TLS with 216.58.205.35:443 (sni: www.google.co.uk): TlsException('Cannot load trusted certificates (/tmp/_MEINyyZkY/certifi/cacert.pem, None).',)",)

this has been asked before and I’ve just copied the previous question. This only happens on my Mac but seems to happen every few days.

i can’t go to any website when this error happens. Search engines don’t work. I can’t type in a web address directly. This affects all browsers on the Mac. Other devices on my network work fine it is just the Mac. I am not using a VPN.

Hi Tjcoops78,

Thanks for the additional information. If you're unable to test the issue out in safe mode, we’d recommend creating a new network location instead and seeing if the issue will reoccur. If the issue doesn’t return, be sure to remove the network location that wasn’t working previously.

For reference: Use network locations on Mac

If the issue does reoccur, you’ll want to to run a wireless diagnostic test at the same time to see if it can check out your issue further here: If your Mac doesn't connect to the Internet over Wi-Fi

You had mentioned that this would usually happen after some time your Mac has been powered on. We’d recommend restarting your Mac and reviewing If your Mac won’t go to or stay in sleep.

In addition, you may also want to consider renewing your IP address from the DHCP server on Mac.

We hope this helps. Be well.

Hi Karina,

This is random after an amount of time of the MacBook being powered on. When this happens it affects all sites. I have cleared the caches, and no matter what address I try to go I get the same issue.

Safe mode would have to have to be left on for an undetermined amount of time as this happens at random intervals - sometimes it can be a week or two, or can be a few days. I wouldn't be able to leave the MacBook in safe mode for this amount of time in order to see if it doesn't happen.

This is not just safari it affects Chrome as well.

As this has been mentioned by other people (although no resolution was posted) I'm sure this is not isolated to myself.

Hi Tjcoops78,

We understand you're experiencing issues when loading webpages in Safari. Do you notice if this issue occurs when visiting a specific website or is it more random? If you haven't already, we'd recommend reviewing If Safari on Mac doesn't open a webpage or isn’t working as expected.

If the issue continues, we'd also recommend testing this issue out while booted in safe mode to isolate the issue further here: How to use safe mode on your Mac
