Thank you for trying to help but I am not trying to do anything with CarPlay.
I think I discovered the answer today. I’ve been trying to pair my husband‘s phone to his car via Bluetooth, but the car was in motion. I recently read that the car must be in park so I will try that tomorrow.

Our iPhone 12s were paired via Bluetooth to our cars.
Since we received our iPhone 13s, I have not been able to pair our phones with our cars. When I put them both in pairing mode, they don’t see one another.
