Apple Mail - out of office - subject heading

I have set up an out of office reply for Apple Mail and it is working but where do I write what I want the the subject heading to be? It is not the same as the description of the rule.

Can I change the subject line in received emails like we used to be able to do for Entourage? In Entourage 2008 (and probably Outlook 2019) we could change the subject line in received emails so that filing could be done more accurately without having to open each mail to find if the sender had been too lazy or forgetful to change to the relevant topic. This happens a lot in my communities. I had a script that changed the topic which ran as follows: tell application "Microsoft Entourage" set objMessage to item 1 of (get current messages) set dlgReply to display dialog "Subject:" default answer (get subject of objMessage) with icon 1 if text returned of dlgReply is not "" then set subject of objMessage to text returned of dlgReply end if end tell Is there an equivalent script or action I can apply to Apple Mail? Sadly I am forced to use it now as they have locked out Entourage so I cannot use what is still the most user-efficient email programme ever - at least at the level of my being able to interface with it. Mail is very much less functional (does not even drop new folders in alphabetical order) but I am hoping there might be a script or method I can use to change subject headings prior to filing. MayT-H

Formatting the reply mail in Apple Mail Hi, So I would like to know if there is a smart way of formatting how the replies look like in Apple mail. Like for example, when I am replying on any email, by default it says On 4 Nov 2022, at 01.40, USER <email@email.com> wrote: then there is the previous email below. But is there some smart way for it to show the following instead, just like it does in Outlook. It doesn't necessarily need to have all the following, but still like something similar like below. From: USER <email@email.com> Sent: 4 Nov 2022, at 01.40 To: email@email.com Subject: subject of email Because the default option is pretty annoying, since you never know where the old email starts. So I have been manually putting in a ______ below my signature, and then I manually highlight the default text. But if there is a smarter automated way, then it would save me lots of time! There doesn't appear to be a way, I'm supposing it uses Re: & their Subject.

FWIW, out of the office replies may alert spammers that they have found a valid email address.

And, if using out of the office automatic replies these should be set up on the email server rather than in your email client. The reason being you could get into a race condition where your auto reply replies to someone who has also set up an auto reply. The result is a race condition where you both are automatically replying to each other repeatedly.
