Apple Watch App Says Update Required to Access Apple Watch App, but I Need to Make Space for the Update

Last night, I updated my iPhone to iOS 15. Now, when I try to access the apple watch app, it says that I must first upgrade my watch to watch OS 8 to use the app. See screenshot

The only issue is that I need to first make space on my watch which requires access to the app... Does anyone know how I can make space for the update? Ideally I don't want to reset my watch, but understand if it has to come to that.

Thank you

Apple Watch Series 3, watchOS 7

To Free-Up Storage

For songs, see:

Remove music from Apple Watch - Apple Support

and for pictures, see the "Limit photo storage on Apple Watch section in:

Choose a photo album and manage storage on Apple Watch - Apple Support

To delete apps on your watch, see:

Delete apps from your Apple Watch - Apple Support

Also, try unpairing and pairing your watch again and restoring from the backup just created in the unpairing process. This deletes all temp and corrupted files and re-indexes the file system. This should result in no loss of data and in some cases can free a lot of storage.
