USB-C ports on my MacBook Pro are worn

Do the USB-C ports wear out and need to be replaced? My laptop is only charging in one port and I can't read any external drives now. A warning comes up saying the USB devices have been disabled because they use too much power. Any ideas?

Sounds like you have a hardware issue...

You can try running the diagnostic—

Can you run the user Diagnostic...not as definitive as Apple's own AST2 (Apple Service Toolkit) back bench diagnostic, but may kick out an error code.

Use Apple Diagnostics to test your Mac

In or out of warranty you can get a free over the counter 'Apple Service Diagnostics' test /assessment
