Is there a patch coming for Safari 15 problems?

You Tube book marks crash the app.

Bookmarks cannot be shown by default in the side bar (require extra step to show them)

Not happy with this.

Is there a patch coming for Safari 15 problems?

If so is there an estimated date for it?

Thanks to all

Don't confuse security patches with software/OS updates. My iMac running Catalina has the security patches installed as they come out and is up to date. Another patch just came out yesterday and I will have it installed later today. System Preferences also let me know that Safari 15 is available, so that box will get unchecked.

Also, unlike the Windows world, there are very few threats to the Apple OS (when folks here post issues you'll notice that usually the first advice given is to uninstall any anti-virus and "cleaning" software), and that has to do for the most part with the effort that Apple puts into locking their systems down. Started in ernest with Catalina, took another big step forward with Big Sur, and Monterey I'm sure will take it even further. The other thing I have always done (got my first Macintosh in 1984) is I don't visit sites that seem shady, and I don't click on links in emails that tell me my Amazon account has been suspended or that my Tax Refund has been delayed.

Keep your additional software up to date, install Apple OS Security Patches and the rest will take care of itself. And just to add, EtreCheck is a very worthwhile piece of software (developed by one of the members here). I run it once a month and save the reports. If something is amiss, you'll spot it pretty quickly.

Thanks Ronasara,

I submitted the feedback to Apple per your suggestion.

Am also wondering if there is a way to restore the previous version of Safari (i.e. before last week's upgrade to version 15) without reinstalling the OS. Any ideas?

My concern: I am running on a 2020 MacBook Pro M-1 so the OS X restore process is different here than it was for machines with the Intel chips. I am a bit hesitant to mess with it for the sake of these bugs which is why I am interested in getting a patch. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks again.

I can offer a couple of thoughts. First, I think that in order to install an earlier version of Safari, you will have to install an eerier operating system since Safari is part of the OS. I can not normally be individually installed. Second, you can only go back as far as what OS the machine came with. And to do so requires a disk erase and a lot of difficulty. I wouldn't do it. I think it's best to just use Firefox or another browser until the Apple update is released which will fix the problems.

This advice will do nothing to help with your current Safari issues, but for the future you may want to do the following.

System Preferences/Software Update and uncheck "Automatically keep my Mac up to date." Then refrain from installing the latest/greatest releases of anything.

Didn't use to be like this. Apple software was typically rock solid. Past few years, not so much. I keep my iMac at least one full OS release behind (still on Catalina) and intend to do the same thing with my new MacBook Pro M1, which came with Big Sur but will not be updated to Monterey until whatever comes after Monterey is released. Just not worth the hassle. Now it typically takes the developers at least a year to get it right.

And Apple does monitor this site, so hopefully the developers are working on a fix for the many, many issues with Safari 15, just like they did with Big Sur, which in the initial release was nothing short of a total disaster.

Given the concerns with new software releases I can see the logic of your approach.

I upgrade not for new features but primarily to try and stay current with security patches.

If you do not upgrade in accordance with releases recommended by Apple, is there something else you do to address such things as evolving lapses in security (that newly released software can patch)?
