Alarm only rings with default ringtones on my iPhone 13 Pro

I figured it out, you need to go to Apple Music and make sure the song is downloaded. Then try it again! Let me know if that helps

I had the same problem. The song must be downloaded from your songs library in order for it to play when the alarm goes off.

Well.. finally I deleted the song and turned off the Dolby and lossless settings and then downloaded the song again.. now it works!!!

I also use Apple Music. My fix was actually downloading the song to my phone. It will not use the song from iCloud. Hope this helps.

I have an iPhone 13 Pro also. I had to purchase songs on iTunes that I had never purchased before on any previous iPhones that I have owned. Than I chose just those songs to use for the alarm, and it worked immediately. I have spoken to Apple Customer Service and they knew nothing about the problem, and they had no solution for it. I am going to call them today to tell the solution I have found, and to suggest to Apple that they do a software update, so we can use all the songs Apple provides both purchased and not purchased.

That’s always been the case. The songs I have chosen are downloaded (and when that is the issue, it plays a default ringtone, not silence). This is a different issue. The workaround is to make the songs you want to play into ringtones (purchased and using GarageBand) , but the core problem needs to be addressed by apple, because we are SUPPOSED to be able to use Apple Music tracks as alarms— they play just fine when setting up the alarm and previewing the song you chose.

Try this one: when you search songs via the alarm app, check the downloaded section. That seems to be the songs now accepted as being “purchased”. & yes, as stupid as it sounds, it worked on my end.

I realized I had the same issue when I tried to change my alarm sound I updated it to the latest version and it still didn’t work. I realized you have to actually download the song and when you choose the sound go to my downloads and choose from there!

Go to your music, choose your song. Use the 3 dots to download it first. Set up your alarm and use this song. It should work.

Try downloading the song from your library to your phone first then you should be able to use it. It worked for me after someone else suggested it.

I had to download the song from iTunes for it to work.

I got a new phone and I had to purchase songs that I had only purchased on the new phone. When I did that the songs worked on the alarm. These songs must be songs I have never purchased in the past. Yes that is still a great glitch, but at least I have some alarm songs now. I have told Apple about this.

Hey i have figured it out!! In your focus app choose the settings for sleep and do not disturb. Choose add apps, these apps will be able to bypass the DND or Focus settings and as long as the song is downloaded it will play!

The fix for me is: you must purchase the song on I-Tunes, and use only purchased songs for your alarm. I tried it and it worked right away. Happy Thanksgiving.
