Alarm only rings with default ringtones on my iPhone 13 Pro

the alarm does not ring, when I chose a song, but it rings when I chose a default ringtone from the list. I have tried deleting the alarms, restarting device but no luck. I just purchased the iPhone 13 pro. It’s not a problem on my previous iPhone 7 Plus, I am guessing it’s a bug in the latest iOS

Here’s the fix…remove the song from your downloads. Then, go into settings and tap your Music settings, scroll down to the “download in Dolby atmos” and turn it OFF. Then re download the song into your music library and set your alarm with that song. Works perfectly. Must be some sort of glitch when Apple started this Dolby atmos feature.

Hello Followsid,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you're having an issue with setting a song as an alarm tone. We're happy to provide some information to assist.

Does the song play as expected from your Music app? If so, have you also tried deleting the song and adding it back to test? If not, test and re-add to the alarm. If needed, the steps for adding an alarm can be found here: How to set and manage alarms on your iPhone

Also, you can find the steps for deleting music here: Delete music, movies, and TV shows from your device

Best!

I have an iPhone 13 Pro also. I had to purchase songs on iTunes that I had never purchased before on any previous iPhones that I have owned. Than I chose just those songs to use for the alarm, and it worked immediately. I have spoken to Apple Customer Service and they knew nothing about the problem, and they had no solution for it. I am going to call them today to tell the solution I have found, and to suggest to Apple that they do a software update, so we can use all the songs Apple provides both purchased and not purchased.

That’s always been the case. The songs I have chosen are downloaded (and when that is the issue, it plays a default ringtone, not silence). This is a different issue. The workaround is to make the songs you want to play into ringtones (purchased and using GarageBand) , but the core problem needs to be addressed by apple, because we are SUPPOSED to be able to use Apple Music tracks as alarms— they play just fine when setting up the alarm and previewing the song you chose.
