Alarm only rings with default ringtones on my iPhone 13 Pro

Also choose alarms, when choosing apps to bypas focus and do not disturb. Then choose the song again that you want to use in the alarms app. This worked for me!

I tried using songs I purchased on iTunes and they worked, but I still think this feature is buggy because it’s not consistent.

I had the same problem. On my last iphone I could set my alarm sound as anything that was saved in my music, but when I tried with this one, it didn’t work. It allowed me to select the song, but alarm sound would play a preset tone. But when I selected a ringtone I’d purchased from the itunes store, it worked. Idk why they didn’t just say that on the alarm. Anyway, I hope this helps

I’m having the same issue with my new 13 pro. I did remove and redownload the song. I made sure lossless and dolby atmos were both turned off in settings, as I know there’s issues with those features and alarms. Still no luck. Provided tones work, songs from Apple Music do not.

i bought an iPhone 13 for my wife and a 13 Pro for me and It’s working for me and not for my wife. We share a family plan for Apple music but I’m the owner of the plan. Maybe Apple forgot some privilege for the other family members.

At the apple store yesterday, we asked the question and apparently it is a copyright issue making the songs that won’t play not play. I still don’t get why they preview: if they can’t be used why make them appear that they can only to have you show up late to work because the song you picked—which previewed fine—played silent and didn’t wake you up. ALARMS ARE IMPORTANT a lot of people only use their iPhones to wake up every day and this is BS. If this isn’t a glitch but a copyright issue, make the feature unavailable or make someway to choose from songs that are allowed to be used for alarms and not find out the hard way.

I'm right there with you all. I just "upgraded" from a 2020 SE to a 13 pro.

Even though when I set an alarm with a song that is on my phone (or, at least, worked with my 2020 phone), and the alarm app will play a preview of that song when I set it, all I get when the alarm goes off is the default sound (annoying!) and vibration.

Luckily, my Watch vibrates -- most of the time -- as well, so I haven't been late for anything... yet.

I am considering physically backing up my new phone on my old (2012) MacBook which has all of my songs on it... I will report back if this fixes the issue.

I do have Apple Music right now (giving that a second chance bc it was awful the first go), but if it is the source of the problem, I am going to quit that for good. I'd rather have my songs, ripped from my CDs (remember: 2012 MacBook, still going strong!) and purchased from my sources, than not be able to my play music for alarms.

I may put in a call to Apple after the holiday week -- IF I haven't returned this dumbphone by then. I wanted it for the good cameras -- but the current usability is making me H⁸ it. I won't even get into the throttled browsing power here.

This works, but Apple music deletes even purchased and downloaded songs „automatically“ after a while and defaults back to the „horror“ alarm. This seems to be a horrible bug and was only introduced recently it surely worked on iOS 14. no longer on iOS15. Is there a way to submit this as a bug report?

Same issue. Can’t set a song for alarm. Not happy.

Same process on 2 different iphone 13 with different result. There’s clearly a bug. Both have Apple music subscription.

Hi, I don’t know if you fixed your issue but I have the same problem with my iPhone 13 pro max. I’ve found out that it plays the ringtones I’ve bought from iTunes though.
