Camera Lens Protection

I just bought the iPhone 13 Pro Max from the iPhone 7 Plus, and I'm seeing all these videos and articles about needing a Camera Lens Protector. If I bought the Apple Silicone case, is it necessary to get a Camera Lens Protector. I need a honest opinion. I also have Apple Care +.

As long as you put your phone in a good protective case, which extends higher than the camera modules on your phone, I personally don't see the need to pay for lens protection. But, that also depends on how you treat the phone when not in your hands. If bouncing around in a backpack with other hard objects, then perhaps lens protection could be of value.

I've owned every phone Apple has sold over the last several years. All phones were in good quality cases and I've never had any issue with the cameras and never have used lens protectors.

Keep in mind anything you put on the lens will make light passing through the camera to the sensor diminished in some way.

Hello Snowman87,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Based on your post, you'd like to know if you should purchase a Camera Lens Protector for your new iPhone 13 Pro Max. Congratulations on that new iPhone!

That is totally your call on purchasing a Lens Protector for your new iPhone. If you seem to use the Camera a lot, then it wouldn't be a bad idea to keep it covered when not in use, but it's not required. We hope this helps out!

Wishing you well, take care!
