iPhone 7/ iOS 15 Camera QR Code Scanning while Mirroring

I have an iPhone 7 (iOS 15) that I use for work. On a nearly daily basis, I mirror my iPhone 7 to my MBP (11.6) using a USB Lightning cable and Quicktime. While mirroring, I scan a standard QR Code with my iPhone 7 that tells the default browser (Safari) to open an embedded URL. This has all worked the past 2+ years with no issues.

It all worked great until I upgraded to iOS 15. Now, while actively mirroring my iPhone, the Apple Camera app no longer recognizes any QR Codes that it sees. Once I disable Quicktime (or Airplay) and stop mirroring, the Camera goes back to recognizing the QR Codes.

If I use the Code Scanner App while mirroring, the Scanner App recognizes the QR Code but the Camera App does not. Unfortunately, I need the Camera to work and not the Code Scanner.

I've done some anecdotal tests with co-workers iPhone XS Max and iPhone 12 (both running iOS 15) and they do not display the same issue of failing to recognize the QR Code. However, an iPhone 8 w/iOS 15 displays the same issue as the iPhone 7.

I'm guessing that Apple deprecated older phones due to "security" but that's really hard to prove.

I haven't done a factory reset yet but that might be my next step. It would be great to know if this was intentional or not (I'm guessing it was intentional) or if there's a fix.
