My iPhone is not supporting simcard

Please help my iPhone is asking for a supportive simcard I got it from a friend in Ireland

Could it be locked to an ISP in Ireland?

Are you getting an error message that states that the SIM card is not supported? This is because the iPhone is locked to a carrier, probably, in Ireland. Only that carrier can unlock that iPhone for use with other carriers. Ask your friend, in Ireland, about the carrier that the iPhone last worked with. That is the carrier that needs to be contacted to get that iPhone unlocked.
