iPhone XR will not charge on MagSafe duo charger after iOS 15 update, but watch will.

I've searched everywhere for a fix. My iPhone XR is only a few months old, my charger is only a few weeks old, as is my watch. Both were charging fine before the 15 update. Now my phone says it's charging, but is not. It can be on there overnight with absolutely no change in battery life. It is NOT on vibrate or using a case. It will charge on USB. My watch still charges just fine on the duo charger. And yes, I have already read the official support pages. Yes, it has been restarted since the update. Kinda out of options. Is there a fix for this?

Hi faded4words,

Thanks for the follow up!

That is helpful information, however, it doesn't do anything to help isolate the location of your issue. On the MagSafe Duo charger, there is a specific charger for the Apple Watch. We're talking about testing the MagSafe side where your iPhone goes since that's the one you're currently having issues with. Not the Apple Watch charging side.

You'll need to isolate whether the issue is the MagSafe charger or the iPhone. To do this, you can try placing another device that has wireless charging capability on the MagSafe side of the charger. This can be another iPhone, a different brand smartphone that has wireless charging, headphones, etc. Or you can try placing the iPhone on another wireless charger if you have access to any. You'll need to determine which device is not working (the charger or the iPhone) so you know which one needs the repair when you contact Apple.

If you do not have any way to isolate the issue (no access to other wireless charge capable devices and no access to any other wireless chargers) then you may need to take both the charger and the phone to an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider, so they can do these tests, figure out which device has the issue and then proceed with repair on the appropriate device.

Cheers!

Hi faded4words,

We understand your iPhone is no longer able to wirelessly charge. We're happy to offer some guidance.

To start, we'd recommend doing some tests to help isolate where the issue is coming from. You'll want to test your phone on other wireless chargers to determine if the problem is with the phone or with the specific charger you're using. Alternatively if you have any other iPhones around, or another device that is Qi charging capable, you can try it on the MagSafe charger to see if it charges or not.

How to use your MagSafe Charger with iPhone 12 models and later

We hope this helps. Cheers!
