I recently upgraded from an iPhone X to iPhone 14 Pro via iCloud and my iPhone storage has doubled from. It seems to be my photos that are now being stored on the iPhone, but I am using the “optimize iPhone storage” option for photos. I’ve tried to open photos and they are always ready on demand which seems to show this is the case. Does anyone have an idea what to do?

I don’t really have any further questions. As stated in my post my photo storage has doubled, so checking for it doesn’t really fix the issue. iCloud is enabled already for photos.

I have the same issue. Icloud enabled.
256GB, icloud enabled but photos using 120GB giving me 20GB left on my phone. My old phone only used 6GB of the space
I have the same problem. Upgraded to iPhone 13 from iPhone 11. Both 128 GB
had 75 gb free on iPhone 11 and and after transferring data now have 19 gb free on iPhone 13.
how can this be fixed?

Funny, mine began going down today as well. They must have fixed the bug within iCloud.
Update: My iPhone 13 Pro has actually started to go down in usage even though I have not deleted anything (probably even added a few 100 mb of photos in the past week). My theory would be that once the new phone downloaded all content via iCloud, it somehow was not able to differentiate immediately the photos it took from there and temporality determined it to be “new” content and is sort of “working its way down” to normal…? (But I’m not an expert, so anyone’s guess really)

iPhone XS photos only used 3 Gb of memory ICloud only 50 gb. New iPhone 13pro 120 gb.

Same issue here. Upgraded from iPhone 11 and photos now takes up 93 GB on my phone. Optimization is turned on and I’m paying for 2TB iCloud storage plan. Please fix this Apple.
