I can screen mirror, but can't airplay to my Sony or Samsung TV

Both my Sony and Samsung TVs have airplay.

They both allow me to screen share photos from my iPhone or to screen share from my MacBook Pro.

However, when I play a movie in quicktime on my MacBook Pro (or other device) and I press the airplay button to stream it to my TV, I get the Airplay page that says "Choose this Device" - which shows the device name to select.

I've already selected this device in the little drop menu when clicking airplay. However it won't play.

It's exactly the same on my Sony and Samsung TVs. Both on same network, both software to date.

It's infuriating! Please help.
