System Data in storage taking half the phones storage

Hi guys,

Just an observation I noticed after updating to ios 15 was that the system data is talking more than half of my phones storage space. There is no solution in how to reduce this used space and I’ve ended up removing more than half of my pictures and videos but to no effect.

Any kind of help on how to reduce this system data storage will be really appreciated.

Hi PulkitM,

Thanks for your follow up. Thank you for including a screen shot. One more thing you can look at is backups. You can delete older backups if you do not need them and if they are taking up extra space. Check out the section "Locate and manage backups stored in iCloud" in Locate backups of your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

If it is not backups taking up so much space, we recommend you Contact Apple Support to have it looked at more closely.

Have a nice day!

Hi karen12,

I am using a 64gb iPhone 12 at the moment and I see more than half of the storage being taken up by system data. I have tried restarting several times as well but nothing happens.

Please see the screen shot below for what I see in my phones storage at the moment. I have removed many apps and keep deleting videos regularly to no effect.
