Macbook Pro Now or Later?

I just bought a new 2020 Macbook Pro 13 inch Intel i5 + Touchbar yesterday. However, I just saw the news about the new MacBooks releasing within the next month. Should I return this laptop and wait till the new one comes out or just keep this one? I need it for school but I also feel it's a waste of money when the new one is coming soon.

Hi luvquyn,

I would recommend returning your new Mac for a full refund.

The M1 chip already destroys the existing Intel Macs; if you want more IO than the two Thunderbolt ports then I'd recommend waiting until (probably) mid-October.

That said, if you're needing to run Windows 10 natively via Boot Camp, or if you're in computer science and doing an x86 assembly course, you'll want to keep this Mac. M1 and future Apple silicon Macs use the ARM architecture, which is different from Intel's x86.

I think you can return the new laptop within 14 days. https://www.apple.com/shop/help/returns_refund

There will always be a newer or "better" version of the product coming out if you wait a little longer. The advantage of the newer one is that it may be faster or better in some ways. Disadvantage of the newer product is that because it is new, there will be a shakeout period when issues and "bugs" are found and fixed.

The choice is yours. I don't think getting a new Apple computer is ever a "waste of money."
