Why there is at&t sim card in my friend's new bought iPhone 12 pro ?

Because he purchased it from an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Reseller and specified the AT&T network one? Or he purchased it used from a person or gray market seller and it was used with AT&T.
But my friend got mobile box pack and I checked about purchase and activation date which shows exactly the same date my friend purchased and we live outside USA. One more thing is that in about section it says '' no sim restrictions''
Was it purchased from an Authorized Reseller? What is the model number of the iPhone (Settings > General > About > Model, post both numbers, to get to the one not showing tap on the one that comes up first).
As long as he doesn’t have any hardware problems, he will have too go to the US for service.
My friend's iPhone 12 pro model number is MGJP3LL/A and A2341
That is a iPhone that was supposed to be sold in the US market.
