Pinch to zoom in Safari not working consistently on IOS 15

It’s not just devices with the A12 or A12X. I have an iPhone 7 (A10) and an iPad Air 4 (A14). Since it’s an intermittent problem, I can’t verify it yet, but I think the iOS 15.2 update fixed it on my iPad. I haven’t updated the iPhone to that yet.

iOS 15.2.1 no help for me either. Disabling live text seems to give just temporary relief.

I'm now just falling in to the habit of quitting/relaunching Safari/Mail whenever it starts happening... and then it's fixed until the next time.

New cynical low from Apple. I upgraded from an X to an XS in part due to this issue. Only to still suffer it, of course!

Same with my as well, if i want to see an image closer on safari in both my phone and mac it doesn't let my scroll in properly, this feature only works with chrome so i started using chrome instead of safari

Yes, it seems that all devices with A12 / A12x are affected. This is definetely a bug and is being overlooked like Apple is a chinese company. This is ridiculous.

Well, 15.3 release candidate is available now if anyone wants to try it, and should get widely released next week. Not gonna get my hopes up but maybe just maybe … 🤞

Xs Max with 15.3 looks like new phone. Zoom again works (email, web,...). I hope it will sustain.

Even i am facing the same issue. Hyper links are not working when we do a pinch in( Zoom in) and then click on it.

Sometimes though, refreshing the page and again doing a zoom would work (but it is erratic). This is not fixed in 15.0.1 release too.

15.0.2 - Pinch to zoom is still broken in the way described by OP after updating an hour ago. I am on an iPhone XS. 15.0.2 was a Security update, so not entirely surprising that this issue has not been addressed. However, I’m worried that because this only seems to be affecting the “X” line of iPhones that this may not be a priority for Apple to fix. Fingers crossed for a patch to resolve it ASAP because it sure is irritating!

I’m having the same issues on my Xs Max with links not working, pinch to zoom on email and Safari. I noticed immediately after the update. Not sure why Apple hasn’t fixed this issue. You would think their employees experiencing the same issues.

Chiming in that this is incredibly annoying. iPhone XS, iOS 15.0.2. Same issue. I can’t find any rhyme or reason to it. Once in a while pinch to zoom works quickly, but usually I have to try it 5-10 times before anything happens.

Put a bug report in but arrrgh.

The modification of the experimental settings did not fix the issue. For example, using the experimental settings, if I go to nytimes.com, I can pinch zoom in and out. However, if I go to facebook.com or twitter.com, the pinch zoom function is broken. I tested this on my wife's iphone 8, and pinch zoom works perfectly on the sites I mentioned above.

Apple. Fix this issue. These phone come loaded with features and yet we have to turn or perform workarounds because your team have not co e up with a fix. I believe the scanning feature is causing this as it scans graphics and pictures for readable text.

It’s seems that it’s like a thread prioritization problem. It’s like the phone can’t figure out you’ve made the gesture to zoom in/out because it missed some key indicatives from the digitizer values.

Also, the simpler the render is the less probable of this issue happening, suggesting the same story.
