Pinch to zoom in Safari not working consistently on IOS 15

I have exact same issue Xs Max. As previously described, same issue: won’t pinch zoom, gets stuck and won’t zoom out, sometimes if I scroll off image to text, I can zoom in or out. Also, sometimes if I scroll page up and down, it works again.

Well it’s back to happening more often, so much for that “fix”. I anticipate more problems like this happening with the iPhone X, I’ve been looking for an excuse to go buy a new one, guess this is it.

Apple should give us the option to downgrade/revert if the iOS software when we encounter problems like these. We shouldn’t have the need to disable or perform work arounds. They own the product and software and should be a no brained for them to fix. And these phones are not cheap to say the least.

Same here, can’t pinch-to-zoom on Safari or Chrome or Mail. I thought it was a problem with my fingers at first, lol. This issue has been around for a couple months and still no update??

Hey Apple! Bugs like this in older phones that go un-fixed for a long time.. it doesn’t make people upgrade, it makes them change brand!

As an iPhone X user on ios15.x this bug is really annoying, I wish I’d stayed on ios14.

This is only one of many new bugs and strange things happening to iPhone X(xx)’s since the new iOS 15 was released.

• alarm sound not ringing through headphones anymore (extremely frustrating)
• Touch ID now marks the words more often when all I want is to move the marker
• my phone is super fresh and battery life is good, but out of nowhere apps have started to freeze in suspicious ways

either you fix this or we all go buy old nokias on ebay

Agreed. You would think Apple have a fix for this and yet they continue to prioritize what they think it’s best. However they need to remember that the consumer drives their sales and stocks and ignoring these highly frustrating glitches they’ve caused is another way to look at other devices that doesn’t have these everyday functionality nuances.

iPhone Xs 512 GB, iOS 15.2. Same problem. If this isn’t planned obsolescence I don’t know what is. It’s the first time since the first iPhone when I’m actually considering switching to an Android based terminal.

I agree. I still have every iPhone model since it came out up to my current one which Xs Max. I don’t plan on getting any more. The prices going up and quality going down. Phone looks amazing during those dog and pony shows but in the real world application key features they praise during their review are finished with software updates. We should not have to go through all these workarounds when we pay so much money for it. I don’t mind paying top dollar for a phone but when it starts coming short to their promises and deliverables I would agree with your assessment in changing to another operating system.

I would have said that Apple doesn’t do that before ios 15 but now I’m reconsidering. It might well be a mistake of sorts, a bug but failing to address it is very stinky indeed. It smells a lot like forced obsolescence and makes me get out of their ecosystem.

..... and here I thought I am the only one having this pinch and zoom problem on my XS Max. I checked on my friends' iphones 12 and 13 and no one else has this issue. These issues are one of the reason some people dread these iOS updates and do not update their phones regularly (or not at all), sadly.

It’s a sales tactic from Apple forcing individuals to upgrade their phones after having them for a few years. I know personal individuals and some at the work place who have encountered this tactic for years. I fell for that once. No more. I’m recommending them to get another phone that isn’t Apple this Apple did fall far away from its tree.

Dear Apple,

This was the beginning. Steve convinced the world with an iPhone with smart and smooth handling .

Now, since iOS 15.x Till 15.2, the smooth zoom function in my mail app seems broken, many repeats are necessarry to zoom on my iPhone X . It feels like an unfinished product now or to have a cheap third party mobile phone in hands. Some month ago, in iOS 14 all was fine.

Please take responsibility and get this fixed soon.

To those that recommend disabling live text as a workaround, live text is not supported on a lot of older devices so we cannot disable it.

May this is a lead for Apple. That some part of live text is active even on unsupported devices?

Yeah I’ve seen about five different things that I’ve worked for different people which is quite bizarre. When I spoke with Apple a few weeks ago they knew nothing about it and the tech guy even wanted me to send him the link to this thread because he didn’t believe there was that many people having an issue. Oh well sorry it didn’t work for you…
