Pinch to zoom in Safari not working consistently on IOS 15

Ever since updating to IOS 15 I have noticed that pinch to zoom does not always work in Safari on my iPhone XS. I've never seen this issue prior to IOS 15. Here is what I see:

Load a page on Safari
Attempt pinch to zoom - sometimes it works immediately, other times it does not work.
Scroll the page up/down, then try pinch to zoom again - sometimes it works, sometimes it does not
Sometimes when pinch in to zoom works to zoom in, it will immediately break again and I cannot unzoom with 'pinch out' after numerous attempts. Eventually pinch out works again.

I have not seen this reported anywhere else, except for a short thread on reddit. In that thread (Anyone has issues with Pinch to Zoom using Safari on iOS 15 ?) users all had iPhones X, XS, XR, or the max versions running IOS 15.

I've tried killing Safari and restarting it, closing all tabs and reopening, and rebooting the phone. Nothing has resolved the issue.

Is anyone else seeing this issue with IOS 15?

ooh! great catch! testing on my XS seemed to confirm this, so i disabled 3d touch in accessibility. pinch to zoom is now working much the same as it did pre-update. (still it tries to “zoom” me out of my current tab sometimes but otherwise is functional.)

I turned on touch accommodations and it looks promising this far - thanks for the tip.

What’s strange about this problem is it does not happen consistently for me.

Has anyone tried 15.2.1? There is no mention of this fix but I read that Apple does not always list all fixes. Im afraid it might break something else though.

I see that my last comment got erased. I just stated the obvious. Apple put that bug in 15.0 to push people to upgrade. They took it out in 15.3 so they dodge a class action lawsuit. I will rewrite this message until they quit erasing it.

Regardless of the whys and wherefores I’m just happy that the bug finally got fixed. I don’t have the time, or the energy to put into discussing who or what or why this was introduced. I’m just glad that it’s now gone, just as I imagine 99%

of the people that posted in this forum are too.

Thanks all for all your useful comments and suggestions over the last 6+ months. No doubt we’ll all be chatting again when the next annoying bug crops up in 15.4.

The annoying problem seems fixed on my iphone 8. But it looks that my Ipad on which I read my newspaper, where I use the pinch to zoom feature a lot, still has the same issue. Anyone else? Or would it be app-related? App works well on iphone though..

You would think with all this chatter they would have he’s out an update fix but I don’t even see a comment that they are working on it.

Pinch to zoom is also broken on my XS exactly the way OP described. I'm on 15.0.2.
